Personally I find it depends on the site I play at. My local sites fairly open woodland with no cover in places so even with my mp40 and the midcaps I can burn through a few rounds if I get bogged down in a fire fight. Other sites I'll go through barely any.

that being said with what I've seen from my springfield so far I quite agree with steve and the sniper limit. Its not that much easier to hit stuff with it compared to my thompson or mp40 and the extra fps doesnt seem a massive advantage. However that maybe due to rain/wind the times I've used it. Need to trial it with some .25's to see if that improves it. Either way 90 rounds seems a bit of a hinderance

I would tend to agree with all of that, has it also been mentioned that BB's may be handed out by an official at the D-Day game. I may be wrong about this but if so what weight and make of BB as snipers and even AEG users have custom barrels and some BB's will stick.

Oddball, if your beef here is with the D-Day game then please post in the relevant forum so Gunman will see it and reply to you.

D-Day is a CiA supported event, not a CiA event in its own right. We're discussing all your (and our) thoughts on the rules etc with Gunman and I believe a couple of us had a meeting with him at Beltring, so watch this space.

Please, if anyone has any comments or thoughts about CiA's rules post away here. However, if there are any questions or concerns regarding Gunman's D-Day event post in the relevant thread on that forum.

Many thanks.

I agree with both of these i spent my last open day at GZ using my garand conversion on SINGLE SHOT - using fieldcraft and patience I got my highest number of kills ever It just made me a lot more careful - got to be a good thing.......(thinks) now if only i had more ammo.....

I think I'm in agreement with everyone else on this - I like the idea of using limited ammo. At the two open day games I've played so far I deliberately limited myself to the ammo I could physically carry in my seven mp40 mags, one full load before lunch, one full load after - part of the fun for me was NOT being able to spray and pray and having to be more selective - :D

QFT!

I've come to the conclusion that at least in my case, Hicaps make me lazy. It suddenly clicked one day when loading up TWELVE 300 round mags for an M4 (yes, thats 3600 rounds loaded) that there had to be a better way. With Locaps I'm forced to be sure that the shot stands slightly more than a snowballs chance in hell of actually hitting. It forces me to use fieldcraft to get closer to the target. All in, it's a good thing. Not to mention the fact that I save a fortune on ammo now :D

**NB**

The "save a fortune on ammo" thing goes out the window when the support guns come out

after re reading my last post I think it came off totally wrong. I like CIA's rules. given a choice I'd love my local site to have the same rule as it emphasises team work, field craft, and makes things more fun. was just trying to convey that a sniper rifle isnt as big an advantage as people think.

so sorry if it came off wrong :) I prefer the CiA rules by far.

on my first urban game at electro works in london, i used 2 x 4500bb bottles in 3 hours LOL

i did over 17,000 rounds on my first airsoft game in woodland

since ive wrecked 4 gearboxes , i now tend to use locaps only

(though i still fire a full mag all in one go)

i only carry 4 mags for my mp 40, im usually dead b4 i use these, as wearing black only leaves me the "CHARGE" option in woodland

Anne and I like the CiA ammo limits and I for one would support a mid-caps only policy.

Edited to add mid-caps OR low-caps policy obviously.

I think we mainly said 600 rounds in either mid, lo or hicaps as we wanted to make sure everybody could join in at minimum expense.

Some folk only have one or two hicaps and we felt it would be unfair for them to have to go out and buy

Thank god I was starting to feel on my own
I normally only carry 1 mag.

At the Arnhem day I used less than 700 rnds I would think and 1 day at CR about 80 rnds.

In some ways winding on a hicap is not much different to changing through a number of mid caps.
Every so often I top up the hi-cap during quiet intervals and that is not much different to fully loading a real mag before you go into action.

It tends to only be CQB with not much undergrowth when airsoft becomes more realistic.

On most WW2 days you just don't need much ammo but I have been at a none WW2 and used 1000 BB's in less than 1 hour.

I can only comment on CR as it was my first  anyhooooo I don't know how many times I had the mp40 on single shot  interesting, the one time I really needed to refil as I'd used the 5 mags I had was the mexican stand off over the road and I was shot  so never had chance to. Think a lot of it was I was maybes cautious being a first timer ooer, that I wanted to see what I was aiming at rather than just rattling shots off, whether thats right or not I don't know but it worked for me, and is completely irrelevant no doubt to the conversation so :rasp:

I prefer ammo limits, but I dont have a problem how different peeps get to that limit as long as they arnt taking the mikky.

I can see why they dont want hi caps though.
